Florencia Sortheix is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Psychology, University of Jyväskylä, and the unit of Social Psychology, Department of Social Research, University of Helsinki.
She has been involved in the Finnish Educational Transitions (FinEdu) Study since 2010. She has published papers in journals such as Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Journal of Community and Applied Social Psychology.
Florencia Sortheix is interested in the role of context on the relationships between motivation and well-being. The findings of her doctoral dissertation demonstrated that the relationship between values and well-being is dependent on the broader social context in which individuals find themselves. Specifically, the relationship between individuals’ values and well-being is influenced by country-level characteristics, by the social groups to which they belong, as well as by organizational and developmental situations.
Her current interests are related to the relationships between work values, career choices, and work engagement. What helps young people to find a suitable occupation? Of particular interest is the interplay between individual motivations and first working experiences in explaining motivational change and different career paths.
