Katariina Salmela-Aro is a professor of Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, and a Visiting professor at the Institute of Education, University of London, the UK, and a Research Director at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies in the University of Helsinki, Finland. She was a post-doc in the Max-Planck Institute, Berlin and is a member of the Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Culture and Society and several steering committees, and member of the EC of the Finnish Graduate School of Psychology. She is an associate editor in European Psychologist, in the editorial board of European Journal of Developmental Psychology and Psykologia. Katariina Salmela-Aro has received several research grants, at the moment she is PI of 4 Academy of Finland grants and Co-PI of two grants. She is a director of several ongoing longitudinal studies, such as the FinEdu, Positive MIND, and LEAD, and a Co-PI of the Mind the Gap and Eager. She is also a President-Elect of the European Association for Developmental Psychology (EADP), the Secretary General in the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development (ISSBD), founding member of the Pathways post-doctoral fellowship program and the Emerging Adulthood Society. Her main topics are motivation and academic well-being using longitudinal studies and related interventions.
